Welcome to the Iceland Line Dance Festival – where line dance meets the top of the world! Get ready for an unforgettable weekend in Iceland, as we invite you to join us on September 2, 3 & 4, 2027, for a celebration of rhythm, movement, and community.

Prepare to be swept off your feet by a stellar lineup of international talents, including renowned choreographers such as Jo Thompson Szymanski from the US and line dance enthusiast’s  Aumund Storsveen and Thomas Larsen from Norway. Their expertise and passion for line dance promise to inspire and elevate your dancing experience to new heights.

The venue is Digranes sports centre, located in the town of Kópavogur.

But the magic doesn’t stop there. We’re proud to introduce your local hosts, Óli Geir Johannesson and Johann Olafsson, who will guide you through the festival with warmth, enthusiasm, and a deep love for their Icelandic roots.

Jo Thompson Szymanski

Jo Thompson Szymanski, The Queen of Line Dance

Jo Thompson-Szymanski is an internationally acclaimed line dance instructor and choreographer, widely respected for her world-class knowledge, uplifting teaching style, and outstanding contribution to the line dance community. With over 30 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Dance, Jo combines strong technique with a warm, encouraging approach that makes dancers feel confident and supported.

Jo’s impact on line dance is truly exceptional — she was voted International Line Dance Instructor of the Year for five consecutive years at the UK Crystal Boot Line Dance Awards, and she was also among the first two inductees into the Line Dance Hall of Fame. Her classes are known for their energy, clarity, and inspiration, helping dancers not only learn steps but develop musicality and style. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer, Jo Thompson-Szymanski’s guidance will elevate your skills and bring out your very best on the dance floor.

Amund Storsveen

Amund Storsveen: Line Dancing Pro from Norway

Amund Storsveen is a celebrated line dance instructor and choreographer from Norway, widely respected for his musical choreography and clear, structured teaching style. Active in the international line dance community for many years, Amund has been publishing choreography since 2007, with his first stepsheet “Mambo Love” released in October of that year.

Amund has created nearly 30 dances, many of them co-choreographed, demonstrating both creativity and strong collaboration within the global line dance scene. His choreography is known for being enjoyable, well-balanced, and dancer-friendly — with routines that feel dynamic on the floor while still being logically built and easy to follow in class. Whether you’re a newer dancer building confidence or an experienced dancer looking for clean technique and great musicality, Amund’s enthusiasm and expertise will help elevate your dancing.
